I’ve had a lifelong love of words and images. I still have one of my first books, “Happiness is a Warm Puppy” by Charles Schulz of “Peanuts” cartoon fame.
I launched my journalism career as a teen, working as a reporter for my middle school newspaper, before progressing to editor of my high school newspaper, the Sharpstown Torch. I grew up in Houston, America’s fourth largest city and self-coined energy capital of the world.
After receiving my journalism degree from The University of Texas at Austin, I embarked on a newspaper career that included working as a reporter and managing editor for the Galveston County Daily News, the oldest newspaper in Texas. I was only the second woman editor in the paper’s century-plus history.
Eventually I married and had two wonderful sons, so I switched gears when my boys were toddlers and started my own consultancy firm. I needed a better way to continue to do what I loved while balancing my career with my sons’ activities. I worked in a home office long before it was in vogue. As challenging as it was to build a successful business from scratch, it was the right move for me.
What do I do?
Simply put, I help clients accomplish their business goals by developing and executing communication strategies. I’ve worked with organizations of all sizes from Fortune 100 corporations, such as BP and Shell, to respected regional entities, including The University of Texas Medical Branch and Moody Bank.
Because each client’s needs are unique, we create a fit-for-purpose plan with a right-sized team. Using corporate best practices, we deliver measurable results.
We offer a full scope of services including strategic communication planning and execution, internal and external communications, marketing and branding, as well as a comprehensive array of associated services: writing, graphic design, photography, advertising, social media, websites and more.
I am fully dedicated to each and every client and committed to understanding their needs and challenges so that, together, we can successfully achieve their goals.
As for me? My goal in work and life has always been doing what I love and doing it well. So far, so good.
And when I’m not working …
I’ve been fortunate enough to travel around the world for work and pleasure while exploring new cultures along the way. When I’m not working, I cherish my free time knitting, gardening, exercising and, of course, reading.
